Third pic is mindfuck. The far right hand side, blinds but clearly see door handle and iron and ironing board.

RE: Something New You've Got...
Enrolled on the Marine VHF course on saturday. Costs £115, but likely as not I won't have to pay as I should get it paid for by work when I show them the invoice.

Nice, I just passed my exams in 'duelighed', dunno what it's called in English, Google Translate says proficiency exam. It's a thing you have to pass before you can legally sail a boat up to a certain size. You learn all the buoys, right of way rules etc. |

RE: Something New You've Got...
That'd be the equivalent of RYA Powerboat Level 2 here then (although there's no legal requirement to take it)
Congrats on passing HIDs |

RE: Something New You've Got...
Hmm, Just browsed abit around the RYA site, I think it's equivelant to more than that. We also learned the day and night signal lights for common boats/ships, and learned how to plan a route, and adjust it depending on water stream, wind and stuff. I'd say it matches the "ESSENTIAL NAVIGATION AND SEAMANSHIP" course the most, but Idk

RE: Something New You've Got...
Sounds more like Day Skipper then. Is it all shorebased? DS is 5 days of tides, currents, chartplotting, route planning, symbols, lights and bouys.
Powerboat L2 is just minimum time on the shore then out to do manoeuvres (Man overboard is fun) and follow a simple route. |

RE: Something New You've Got...
We used 6 months on getting all this crap into our heads, with 2x1,5 hours of teaching every monday.
But we haven't been in the RIB doing the practical stuff yet, just the theory so far. I'll probably go have a go in the RIB on monday But no, not shorebased. At the practical test, we're gonna sail out, and answer some practical questions, doing some knots and telling about the bouys we go past and stuff. Not really sure, and I dunno what I'ma use it for, but It's free in this schoolyear, usual price is ~300£ for everything, and most people use about a year to study before the test. |

RE: Something New You've Got...
Sounds a lot more fun than school
Once I've got VHF I can go onto advanced powerboat (day and night skippering as opposed to just day skippering which is what I have now) |

RE: Something New You've Got...
Helluva lot of luck. Last night i was driving with my friends on town. At one point TT started to klonk. We stopped and looked that everything is fine, after couple kms i had to stop again cause klonking was so bad. Mate grapped left front wheel and it moved out allmost 1cm All 5 bolts were on only 1-2 threads.. I wonder what would have happen if it had came loose 10 mins earlyer when we moving a ''bit'' higher speed
Mate has a pic in his phone, need to get it to my self |

RE: Something New You've Got...
Jesus. You were lucky. There's a reason we torque up all the wheel nuts before driving fast
Finally, after months of having to drive with my knees against the steering column, I stretched my legs in my car. Now I just gotta work out where I'm gonna get a replacement for this little fella. Spoiler (Click to View) |
