External tools

Ankka here hello!

So i heard people are using external tools for copping and running away etc....

External tools that help keep the eye on the suspect like indications on the screen, or minimap that shows where the sucpect is.

My question is that are these allowed?

Imo these should be bannable actions cause they give unfair advantage to other players. And this is basicly what cheating is.

they are allowed but they shouldn't be. only no skilled people use such things

Why is it an unfair unadvantage?

If you have a friend spectating and giving you indications does that make it fair?

You can't use the built-in locator to tell you where the suspect is, so the software people use abuses that fact and does so.

Someone telling you information adds something to gameplay. An insim pointing to your suspect is like having wallhackers in an FPS game.

Why anyone would even pay for such software is beyond me. It's a hand-me-down version of LFSMary with some code changes.

Why is speed hack an unfair advantage if you could get a friend to push you from behind?

Anyone using tools which give actual gameplay advantages is a certified n00b

EDIT: I am aware that speedhacking is intrinsically different to a local InSim. However, IMO it is unfair to gain advantage by using programs which provide gameplay aids outside of the InSim aids we have chosen to include.

That is a list of people allowed to use my premium features. I know for a fact there is other versions which have no username check floating around and it's also open source so pretty much anyone can do it if they have the know how. Also that list can easily be hidden, the only reason I don't do it is because I don't see a reason. The real number of players using it is over 3x what you see in that list. Like chuck said there isn't really a real way to check and enforce it and you can't be banning people on assumptions either.

Here's an idea: If a certain group is gaining an unfair advantage by using these tools, and if we make it so that everyone can gain access these tools. Doesn't that make it fair for everyone?

I had my XPBuddy thread taken down, my intent and why I published my program was mainly to grant everyone access to my tool (and occasionally brag that I am an app developer). Not to worsen this 'cheating' issue. I was not the first to build such a tool nor will I be the last, the APIs are out there begging to be used.

I think we are way past whether it is ethical or not to build and use these tools. So we might just normalise the idea of this stuff being commercialized/distributed/consumed, given the current situation on detectability.

i used lfs strope in lfs.
thats the only external tool i ever used really in all my lfs time.
in cruise i dont really see the use for those things.
in racing i dont need them because it makes my screen blap with info.
some things could be useful at times. but i also got eyes and ears myself.
i feel like these tools is like having a bicycle for loosing weight but its electric and you dont really get exercise from it. laziness is the virtue of the world .
jump where the fence is lowest... etc.

the day an app gets implemented into lfs. i might check it out. but even if so chance is i still wont use it.

I could code these things... but that is just so against the moral... and the solo purpose this server has -> roleplay.....
