8 stitches in my chin from soccer (pics)

Hey guys! Stopping back in here for a bit since i'm on break this week. hope you all are doing fantastic

Anyways, I was playing in the first game of our spring soccer (football) season. I play goalkeeper, and have been for around 5 or 6 years

Well I went for a diving tackle and the player kicked me in the chin instead of kicking the ball. Split it open pretty good, maybe 1-2cm deep and 3cm or so across.

Required 8 stitches, and my junior prom (formal dance) is May 11th, so we'll see how this heals Shaving's gonna be a fun..

Wow Crazy, goodluck on shaving indeed. I had a nice face-plant 1.5 year ago on the bike. (Stupid holes / bushes on a 40cm biking-path), was a bit 'more' bloody than your extra-breating-hole.

Dang, I've seriously gotten some weight ;( (compared to that photo)

Anyhow, I didn't shave untill I thought it was healed enough to shave it. Not sure how your wound is going to look like, but I've got several scars on my lip (as pieces of it just got teared off, I'm serious: it couldn't be stitched because there was nothing to stitch)

But yeah it was real deep, barely any pain so far

And damn, Johan, hope that healed well. Yours is way more spread out, so shaving must have been way worse for yours since mine is in a smaller area.

But really, the kid kicked me in a very fortunate spot. I broke my nose in June, so if he got my nose it would've been worse and needed surgery lol. And he missed my teeth, which is good too!

Scarring should be minimal as I'm told, he struck the underside of my chin so it shouldn't be that noticeable. But I'm also 6'3 (190cm) tall, so I tower over most

The only real painful thing in such deep cuts is the stitching

No internal stitches, Millzy. Since it happened on a Saturday there wasn't a plastic surgeon on call at the hospital so the physicians assistant stitched it up instead. It was a fine stitching though, but we'll see how it heals.

Pain was actually minimal when it happened. It just felt like someone threw a light jab at my chin, i got up and then realized there was blood dripping on my jersey haha. Figured it was a small cut, I asked my teammate how bad it was and walked over to the bench.

If anyone's gotten stitches before, you know it hurts the most when they put the anesthetic in with a needle. Straight into the middle of it before they stitch it Yeah that wasn't too pleasant but it's a bit swollen now.
