Another Monitor?

Hi there,
Just a quick question i cant seem to get the answer to.

Iv got a Dell XPS-8300 with an Intel Core i7-2600 processor and AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB DDR5 video card. I currently have a 27" monitor plugged into the HDMI slot and a 19" into one of the DVI slots. I know for some reason i cant use the bottom DVI port so will i be able to use a Mini DP to DVI adapter to connect a third monitor (19") ?

I doubt it, normally a standard graphics card is only built to support two monitors at a time regardless of the number of ports. Could try it though if an adapter isn't expensive

as long as you have an adapter for the MiniDP, it should work. Apple has a lot of those on their laptops. are you confusing it with MiniHDMI?

Nah im fairly sure it is a MiniDP

Ive got a HD 6850, I use a Startech Display port to DVI adapter and it works just fine

Thank you but it is a Mini Display Port adapter i need but im still not sure what dells motherboard would think it was :/
