Is this a ram or a pit?
Hi guys.
I don't really want to make a report thread since that'll seem quite petty since this is 'questionable', but take a look at this and see what you think I'm not sure of a better area to put this really.. http://www.mediafire.com/?ppie4xscuvv8ftq If you jump to 48:30 and put your camera on coil what happens is I am slowing down to the maximum speed I can make it around that corner, note that I'm pushing the car quite hard as is. Coil slows down for the corner, but far too late, he is on the inside lane that suffers a much sharper bend - and at 48:40 jumps back onto the gas, fully (watch the pedals) - Accelerating back up to 100mph before hitting the rear corner of my car.. Now.. , he was traveling at 100mph, on the slow line, when I was traveling 90mph (on the fast line) when he hit me, which was midway into the corner, he was in no way physically going to make it around that corner, he was travelling far too fast, he intended to crash both me, and accepted crashing himself in the process ..really? I don't think you can call it a PIT when what you're basically doing is some kamikaze move where you abuse the fact your suspect has to slow down for a corner - to not slow down yourself, and call it a PIT because you got my corner.. really?? I don't know. Just doesn't seem right to me. |

RE: Is this a ram or a pit?
Yes I was going to crash myself but thats not against anything i think. It was in the perfect spot for pitting and it didnt caused / minor damage. And the speed difference was 10 - 15 kms so i think you cant say that our speeds werent matched. I'm really curious whats the authorities going to say.

RE: Is this a ram or a pit?
Was slightly dodgy but I'd say that was a valid pit.
(Dodgy because he didn't really regard his own safety, hence he smashed himself into the barrer after executing the maneuver) |

RE: Is this a ram or a pit?
Matt (Marek) Always does this... You slow for a corner and they speed up to hit you... Its not like you are break checking you are genuinely slowing down for a corner.. It gets rather annoying when we see sluggish cops not using any skill to bust suspects, rather than actually preforming a good pit... Ruins chases if you ask me.

RE: Is this a ram or a pit?
Bez did you watched the replay? Our speed differance was 15 kms. I braked hard for that corner. I was going 220 and i braked to 150 than accelerated to 160. I pitted him in the perfect spot and you are saying that this is not using any skill? I didnt even damaged him, just spinned him. Whats skilless with that?

Isn't slowing down later than your suspect exactly the thing we teach with a PIT in a corner? An actual kamikaze move is wrong, but making sure you can hit your suspect's rear before he gets to turn fully, is what you do with a PIT in a corner. Though you need to be sure there is enough room for your suspect to spin, and not crash yourself. I wouldn't call it a proper PIT, but not a ram either. |

RE: Is this a ram or a pit?
Looks perfectly fine to me. Pit was smooth and didn't leave any damage on your car.
What happens to his(cop) car is his problem. |

RE: Is this a ram or a pit?
Personally I am in two minds, yes it worked out. Yet, the risk of yourself and other users being damaged would put something like this to bed and shouldnt be attempted more than once based purely on the fact that its surely about what the suspect is doing. So if they see what is going to happen, it could have gone horribly wrong.
Side 1. The risk of yourself and others around you should have told you no.. Side 2. It worked. There was no endangerment caused yet Tommer got awfully close to Chilli (see 1) Plus, you would have had the speed and if Tommer had gotten ahead, I am pretty sure, if you nudged him, he would have hit the next set of barriers, eliminating the risk of yourself and Chilli altogether. |

RE: Is this a ram or a pit?
Yes it was a dangerous move but I dont think its a ram. Plus the suspect was speeding and was a danger to chill alone.

Chill was already going pretty slowly so the only way he would ve been in danger is by stopping in the road. And if you stop in the road you are pretty much at fault aswell. I wouldn't have done it either, but i can't see anything wrong with it either, if you don't mind the damage to your car. Also keep in mind that moving coil had seconds to decide and you have hours and the ability to analyse the replay. |

That's pretty much what I wouldn't do if I were not REALLY desperate to get the suspect.

Roba, re-read that, doesn't make much sense.
Wreckless maneuver to say the least, if the cop was doing that everytime rights would be getting revoked. Would never put me self in that position really :/ |
