Creative has some nice speakers, and the quality is pretty good, but you can't seem to really, really, really, stress them, or they'll make some other sounds than they are supposed to. I've had quite a few Creative headsets (and the T6100 Inspire speakers), and they all had that. |

RE: Computer speakers - what to get?
I've had my Creative speakers for many years now and i want to try something new, as i said before, I'm going to look into Logitech's two larger systems.

RE: Computer speakers - what to get?
Its pretty simple, if your doubting between the Z5500 and the Z906..
From experience.. as Paul has the Z5500, and I have the Z906: Z5500: Way more bass (then I'll ever need), and more of the boomboom bass. Z906: Less powerfull subwoofer (165watt, right?), still enough to make some things vibrate. Yet, its less 'boomboom' and more a quality (deeper, without breaking the glasses in house) sound.. |

RE: Computer speakers - what to get?
Z-5500:
Total: 505W RMS (Max 1010W RMS, there's a hidden setting to 'overclock' but the fuse can't really handle it) Sub: 188W RMS Centre: 69W RMS Satellites: 4x 62W RMS Inputs 1x 5.1 (3x 3.5mm jack) 1x SPDIF (TOSLINK optical) 1x SPDIF (RCA) 1x Stereo Line in (3.5mm jack) Speaker Output 5x RCA Z-906: Total: 500W RMS Sub: 165W RMS Satellites: 5x 67W RMS Inputs: 1x 5.1 (3x 3.5mm jack) 2x SPDIF(TOSLINK optical) 1x SPDIF (RCA) 1x Stereo Line in (2x RCA) 1x Stereo Line in (3.5mm jack) Speaker Output: 5x Dual Direct wire My mate has the Z-5500 and the sub is somewhat overkill. Overall sound quality is good - a bit better than my £35 Creative T-7900 (7.1, 92W RMS total) - but nothing to shout about. Certainly not 10x better, which is what they expect you to pay for it. Looking at the specifications and from my experience of the Z-5500, the Z906 is probably more balanced power wise and does have more inputs, which may or may not be useful for you. I haven't really had any experience with any other decent PC speaker sets, so I can't compare them with others. |
