If you look in your BIOS (hit F2 before windows boots iirc - it'll tell you on the POST screen anyway) it'll tell you exactly what speed your current RAM is running at. Replacement RAM will need to be the same speed or faster.
Note: Do you have 32bit or 64bit Win7? If 32bit, there's not much point in getting 4GB as only 3-3.5GB will be usable (usually 3GB on Dells). You may as well save a little money and buy 2x1GB sticks to bring your total to 3GB. 32bit doesn't use as much RAM as 64bit anyway. |
