The time 7:30

I fail to see how half of something can be more than something. It may not be taken literally but that's what it sounds like. Especially to people who heard that term first after their brains were grown to their full size.
However, I've learned to say "half past" since that allows the least misunderstanding.

In dutch we say "half 8" ( but in dutch instead of english )

In Sweden we are saying "Halv" 8 so i guessing half 8

Would either be half PAST seven, or half eight.
In Denmark, you only say "Halv otte" meaning half eight, because the time is half the way to eight.

7:25 - Twenty-five past seven
7:30 - Half seven (Half past seven)

7:40 - Twenty to eight
7:45 - Quarter to eight
7:50 - Ten to eight
7:55 - Five to eight
8:00 - Eight.
