Varying Boot Times - Ash - 2015-07-05 07:37 Hey Guys Had my PC since about 2011. Used to get super quick boot times, but now they are sluggish and so varying. For example 267785ms 241653ms 237894ms 136961ms 167051ms 237704ms 245724ms 260430ms 241435ms 124367ms 253308ms 124545ms 143434ms 199629ms 242272ms 113175ms 301225ms Anyone got any ideas why? How I can stop it etc? Thought about doing a whole HDD reformat, however I got my PC from Overclockers where I selected compontents, and cant remember if I still have all the driver disks ![]() Cheers Ash RE: Varying Boot Times - Owl - 2015-07-05 08:48 What Windows OS? RE: Varying Boot Times - Ash - 2015-07-05 08:49 Oppps, 7 Home Premium RE: Varying Boot Times - Owl - 2015-07-05 09:16 Tried cleaning your HDD? Tried cleaning inside your pc to make sure its free from dust? I suggest de-fragmenting your hard drive with the Windows De-fragmenting tool Another thing would be to reserve windows 10 and wait for it to install on 29/7/15 RE: Varying Boot Times - Ash - 2015-07-05 09:24 Ive done a disk defrag but didnt make a difference. Cba opening up my pc tbh. Yep reserved 10, would that make much difference do you reckon? RE: Varying Boot Times - Val - 2015-07-05 10:01 Don't you have programs that start at boot time ? Press windows key + R then type "msconfig", and there's a startup tab. RE: Varying Boot Times - Ash - 2015-07-05 10:14 Yehh got a fair few! Audio Manager Logitech Gaming Framework Logitech Gaming Software Adobe Updater Starter Utility iTunes Microsoft OnDrive GoogleDriveSync iCloud Microsoft Windows OS Catalyst Control Center Adobe Systems, Inc Adobe Gamma Loader RE: Varying Boot Times - Owl - 2015-07-05 10:16 (2015-07-05 09:24)Ash Wrote: Yep reserved 10, would that make much difference do you reckon? Hopefully windows 10 will have the same bootloader and startup sequence as 8.1 as that is really fast RE: Varying Boot Times - Val - 2015-07-05 10:21 You can turn this off and starts these manually when you really need, it should do a little difference. But damn these boot times are so long. RE: Varying Boot Times - Ash - 2015-07-05 12:16 How would I 'launch them manually'? Or is it when the program opens, that service will then launch? So un tick 'iCloud' from the startup list, and if you really need it, open it yourself.
