RAM Upgrade Check
Basically, I'm looking at beginning to turn my PC into a more musically compatiable machine, and I want to get Studio One (Awesome DAW software).
Due to this being awesome DAW software, it eats RAM for breakfast, and I was looking to upgrade to faster RAM, with more of it. Noticed these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc...ubcat=1517 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc...ubcat=1517 Tasty offers on Overclockers, however, they specifically mention i3, i5 and i7 processors. I was just wanting to check that these units would be compitable with an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (2.8GHz), running Windows 7 Professional (all legit). On a slightly unrelated note, if anyone has recommendations for decent SSD's, cheap, feel free to drop me a message, any advice would be much appreciated as I'm looking to get hold of one of them too. |

RE: RAM Upgrade Check
I can conform that the Corsair Vengeance runs on my AMD FX-4100, and its also very good ram. As far as I know as long as the ram is compatible with your motherboard it should be completely fine.

RE: RAM Upgrade Check
BTW, you don't need 1600MHz RAM on a Phenom II unless you overclock it; the stock memory controller runs at 1333MHz.
On the whole, any DDR3 will work, providing it's fast enough for the CPU (subject to maximum size supported by the motherboard). FWIW, I have 2x4GB of Corsair XMS3 running nicely with my Phenom II X4 955. You may as well get the XMS3, because the heatsink takes up much less room, so is more likely to physically fit. |
