I'm kind of surprised at some of the things being said here..
Some of these comments come off giving the idea that the writers deserve what they got when they were shot and killed for merely exercising the same thing we do - freedom of speech, which is a disgusting thing to say.

That might be an aspect yes, but if for example I were to disrespect you, you wouldn't like that.
If you go to the wrong part of some town and disrespect the wrong people you might get killed too, even if you're just practising your right for freedom of speech.

You could disrespect me (or something I stand for), and yes, I wouldn't like it, but that at no stage gives me the right to shoot and kill you.
What you said is true, but it doesn't derive anything from the fact that they did not deserve this for what they did, which some of the previous posts made suggest.

So, they deserve to be killed just cause they did what many others also want to do? To talk freely and express their opinion about another religion? Is that a reason to kill someone? Why dont do they the same with us? Why dont they talk about our "religion" and say how bad it is? We have to accept and do all what they want otherwise you will be killed, thats what some here are saying. They "deserved" it. How can you wish the death to anyone who just expressed his/her opinion?

Islam or Islamic extremists always seem to always pop up in these headlines, I doubt its religion as a whole, just a small group of people who take meanings far too seriously or twist them for personal gain.

Sharia law justifies killing someone if you do certain things, some girl was raped a while ago and she was killed because she wasn't a virgin anymore, if you're not a muslim you can be killed because you're seen as 'mocking' the religion... A religion that justifies killing needs to be removed from this earth for good.

Also not to mention forcing kids to marry adults, which is obviously wrong.

If you talk freely and get killed for it you're doing something wrong. I'm sure people talk shit about whatever it is you believe in, they just do it in a way that won't get them killed ;P. And I haven't really wished death upon anyone tbh, if someone is stupid enough to do something that'll get him killed too bad. It's like overdosing on paracetamol, if someone does it I'll think "what a stupid human for doing that" it's their fault.

The problem is, these extremists see differently to us in what is right and wrong in their religion.
What the cartoon drawers did shouldn't be, and isn't 'wrong' at all, it's simple freedom of speech.

Can you imagine if we were told not to say, talk, scrutinize or object to religions and what they practice at all, because we would be killed for it?

We have something called Freedom of speech over here, which gives everyone the right to say anything they like. That does not mean there won't be a reaction from your employer,friends when you say something hateful or idiotic, but they can not hurt nor stop you from saying it.

There is no exemption for it and their religious feelings mean nothing. There is no justification for the actions of some religious extremists, so they definitly did not have it coming. It is a disgrace to suggest otherwise.

We are in Europe. If we were in some deeply religious country that outlaws blasphemy then i would tend to agree with you, but we are not. Thats why it is disgraceful to suggest, that these people should have known better.

Anybody who thinks ending peoples lives is an appropriate way to show you disagree or maybe even despise what somebody has said, deserves the same fate. Harsh but I have a strong opinion on matters like this.

The verset just before (2:190) says this : "Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors." So you can figure out that we mustn't fight them unless they are the ones to attack first.

Everything is a conspiracy to some people.

Clearly a horrific incident which, which although shouldn't tar all Muslim's with the same brush, plainly shows the dangers of extremism.

Particularly in France, I read that it's estimated that over 1,000 nationals went to fight with ISIS and many have managed to return and re-integrate into society after fighting against their own people.
