RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
There is ways what i thought that can cause a mess.
Imagine running chase who will drive one of these routes, and add to that other civilians who are not aware of sirens and maybe even a few unscrupulous traveling the opposite direction. From my view this will end with a crash and many complaints. I either for normal roundabout or junction that for the present it seems to me the most effective. |

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
People are going to wrongside. There's also a rule in place for people who continue to wrongside so that we can punish them. It wouldn't be a great idea to wrongside on parts of a roundabout anyways.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
I really like it, Bez. There are always going to be wrongsiders; it's inevitable. Take Kyoto's roundabout for example. Players approach the roundabout from the east and cut left up to Arena. Likewise, players approach the roundabout from the west, cut left and carry on through to the Swimming Pool.

I like it too, would like a trial on the servers to see how people deal with it. Nice and clean, well done.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
Did still nobody notice that the two most busy roads now can just plough through the junction without having to slow down at all?
Number one reason for crashes at the roundabout is people failing to stop short of either the stopping line or the car ahead. Just take a look at Kyoto's roundabout. Either, the cars just drive though or in case somebody actually slows down or stops to give way, you can be sure he's gonna be hit in the boot 2 seconds later cause there is always someone who fails to brake. And even if these issues could be avoided by design somehow, you still have the disadvantage of having something like a 4-way-stop. So everyone has to stop/yield. The current mainroad/sideroad configuration gives the advantage that the biggest traffic stream can pass the junction without having to give way. That's less stressful. |

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
I have to say, Chuck makes a lot of sense. Not everybody who drives on the servers visit here, or even practice good driving techniques. Like checking the map before arriving at the junction to determine whether they're going to have to slow or come to a full stop.
I tend to avoid the "hit in the boot" scenario by braking lightly earlier (if there is a car behind me) and indicating my intentions, but in a situation where something unpredicted happens, it's all over very quickly. |

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
If they plow through the roundabout above without slowing down, they would total their car into a barrier. I don't see the problem.

Or plow into a car using the roundabout correctly. It will also attract drifters. I know it's against the rules but during Kyoto and Blackwood I saw numerous times people telling others not to drift the roundabout. That's an issue that will always be around unfortunately. |

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
Yes they may plow into a car, but that goes for any junction, also the current one. We can't fix peoples bad driving unfortunately.

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
It will be an issue and thats why this is in the rules:
Quote:1.12.1. Do not drift around roundabouts. I don't understand what you're talking about chuck. You have to slow right down in order to join the roundabout. If you're on about Devils to HW2, I fixed that with one simple barrier and tire. This is City Driving, were here to give people a cruising experience with at least some real world junctions and roundabouts. If they plow through not looking and crash someone its their fault not the layout design.. |

I think we Shall keep it as it is atm. I don't see any problem with it. And it makes you slow down Alot. And I think that's a great thing

RE: Change this very part of the Jamaica track layout
It's not only about trying to make a crash free road, it'd also simply be nice with a change of layout, so while you might say what is there now is good enough, we should still trial this (which is probably just as good) for the sake of getting a bit of change.
