RE: CityLiga 22 - Discussion
You should also take positives from this race, Sam. You were seriously quick and this is only round 5 of your first season. We all have bad races occasionally and it's not like it was your fault that your race ended. Take a break for a few days and try and approach the next race with a similar mindset to last time, I think you'll be fine.

RE: CityLiga 22 - Discussion
Yeah it's just extremely difficult after two weeks of hard work/practice to have it taken all away. No CityLiga team is going to want a driver that says "oh I almost finished 6th this one time" compared to "I finished 6th in round 5". I'm also not going to have my wheel for the next week due to it going away for repairs and I don't really want to have to get used to my G27 again.

These things happen all the time to everyone at some point. This happened to me in the fox, where i dumped over 800 laps of practice into it, to have it all taken away due to the most silly things. This reminds me of the first 2 years of when i started racing, i would practice alot with my teamates for a certain race making sure im up to pace. When it came to the race, i would make the most pointless mistakes costing time and sometimes damage, i have flipped under the safety car and some other stupid shit. which ofcoruse i felt bad for letting myself and my teamates down. An ofcourse the dreaded timeout i had at the 12h of AS4 in XRR which took us out of a good position back to the back. Also when my wheel decided to fall off my table in the 24h of KY3 when we were leading. I had the weight of my whole team and people who were supporting us, but it wsnt to be and the wheel decided to come off my table mid corner and i ended up back in 7th. anyway big pointless rant, shit happens. |

If you think you've had a bad day, Shikari, just remember, you could be Frank. Then everything will be better.

I've done a good amount of practice for this, but it could all be over in an instant.

Good job everyone! Looks like RDSR had a hard time, except Frank who won in grid 2. Simon and possibly Elmo will get promoted into grid 1 for round 7, as will Frank.

RE: CityLiga 22 - Discussion
Really disappointed with my result, I know I deserved a higher finish and I had more than enough pace to move forward and had logged plenty laps, but was stuck behind a slower car that I couldn't get around which in the end resulted in me getting screwed over by the traffic that was catching from behind. As Renegade said, I just need to be aggressive in future and send one up the inside underbraking and when this happens again I will for sure be doing this.

By stats I should have had a good race, but doesn't always go swimmingly.

Better is to look at the replay and stats and see why others were faster or how they passed you. None of them did pass during braking, they passed on corner exit and straights. And often they wait a bit to get into best position. -lap 6, Mickiewicz passes on s/f straight with slipstream. -lap 8 is first time when you are close enough to car in front to attempt pass, but it is too curvy section. Had you tried to just stay close enough, until the uphill-straight towards hairpin then it might have been more sucessfull. -Lap 10 in hairpins you are somewhat close to car in front, but also hard to make a pass there. Compare to the car from behind (Szarka): He passes easily with exit speed. Two laps later he passes Spencer, same methode and same spot. -Lap 13 Botsi passes you, on s/f straight with slipstream. -Lap 16 Ascon passes you, with slipstream. ..see a pattern? lap 17 you manage to pass troy, but basically only by (accidently, I guess) bumping into his rear which pushed him from line. Even if you had tried to go on inside line, that would have been questionable outcome. And well then you slide/crashed at s/f chicane. Also check in replay if the car in front (Spencer) was really holding you up. You follow him for many laps, yes, but pace is similiar and it never seemed like you had to ease of throttle or so. With this track/car, if one is seriously faster than car in front, then it would have been possible to get close enough for drafting past. Another thing is to pick your battles. Sometimes faster drivers have bad luck at start, but one can be sure they will catch up from behind. For example in this race: Mickiewicz and Botsi. There is not much use to try to race faster cars for position because realistically you will lose anyway, and lose time too. Sure, the s/f-straight was long enough that when Botsi passed you, you could use draft to stay ahead for one more turn. However only that: one more turn. Not worth it. Instead follow such drivers and it can give the 0.5-1 seconds that you need to get close to somehow who you can pass for position. Nismo: You basically threw it away by not knowing how stop&go penality works. (Unlike normal pitstop it is possible to drive off too early and then the stop&go stays. Also only one stop per 'pit visit' is possible.) Also why so aggressive into the hairpins? Guaranteed spot for startcrash. With the S&G there was basically nothing to gain anyway because any gained positions would be lost. Ok sorry for the long post, I just wonder sometimes how people who have the pace for better results throw it away with so silly things |

RE: CityLiga 22 - Discussion
As soon as I was out of traffic I hit a 26, whilst the cars still in traffic hut a 28. I think that speaks for its self really.
Edit: I was also able to catch up to the car infront 3 maybe 4 times, I didn't put up much of a fight when people passed so I could use the slip stream to help drag myself forward again. |

RE: CityLiga 22 - Discussion
Pretty much what Gutholz said, its just learning what parts of the track is better to be close to someone and if you feel like your stuck behind someone put most of your focus on getting really good corner exit speed. Lap 8 you get close to Spencer but your close to him at the worst possible section of the track, your only chance of every getting a pass here is if Spencer spins out. It would've helped you more if you backed off and tried to stay out of his draft. Lap 16 same again, your way too close to Asco in this section and should have been lifting to get out of his draft, this lost you time again. From what I've seen in the replay you was never actually close enough to Spencer to even attempt a pass tbh.
And another good thing Gutholz comments on is picking your battles, with Botsi on lap 12/13 you should have stayed behind him on the straight and let him attack Spencer and hope Spencer battles him which slows him down and lets you catch up. Botsi will get away from both of you regardless as he's much quicker, but you can hope/use him as a way to slow Spencer down to let you get close enough to pass and stay in front as you both seemed like you're the same pace. With Mickiewicz I'm not too sure why you stayed so close, again all you did was lose yourself some time to Spencer for no reason at all and could've been avoided by just not going into his draft. If you watch my lap 17/18 with Mickiewicz this is what you should have done with Botsi, Pete and I was keeping the same distance through out this whole time in the race and I was watching Mickiewicz catch me with what I thought at the time was probably 1sec per lap. Now my only chance to get close to Pete and have a chance at passing him is getting him to slow down and how can I do that from my position? If I let Mickiewicz pass me without any problem he can start hunting down Pete and all I can do is hope Pete battles him which slows himself down and lets me catch up. Using quicker people to your advantage is always a good thing to try if the person in front is lapping same pace as you. |

RE: CityLiga 22 - Discussion
Perfect advice, Savy. I did the exact same with Lacko and Morvai at the start. It didn't quite work because I didn't know Morvai was on R2s. I managed to stay close because they were battling. It was basically perfect.
