Every GTA version has been released on PC several months later than console.

The worst bit? GTAII was running in full 3D (ala GTAIII) on the PC, but the PSOne couldn't handle it so they knocked up a shitty 2D top down version.

Sadly, console is where the early money is, because there are droves of sheeples willing to spend £60 on every AAA game that comes out.

Except for LCS and VCS...and I'm not bothering with the GBA versions. Those sucked too much to be on PC.

The money loss isn't that big, people are so hyped and excited that they will buy either PS3 or Xbox version as most people already have either one or both of those.

Secondly you have to consider the people who pirate the game and downloads it instead of buying as it is mainly a offline mode game.

You also got those who got a computer that can't handle the game, like myself, i will be getting the Xbox 360 version unless I upgrade my computer but then I will probably buy get it downloaded on the computer too.

= they will earn more money of the PC release if they push it a few months.

Unfortunately, the PS3 and the xbox are both limited in performance and image quality. The thing that bugged me most on GTA4 on the PS3 was simply the poor frame-rate and the miserable resolution. The few screenshots look nice but only in the presented size of approx 5-6 inch. The actual gameplay on a 40" display will be essentially worse.

They'll get it onto the consoles first. The younger generations have the mothers wallet to spend Wink

I should imagine once they've made there money they will do there PC port, which will be where the game will make reputation for the company in terms of graphics, mods, community, etc as they are not tied down to console graphics and can make a good game.

I just hope that they do a better job of optimizing the PC port. GTA 4 is inappropriately demanding.

I really hope fire spreads like on GTA SA, I used to love watching huge fire spread across the motorway and cars setting on fire and blowing up - and that was when I was 7 lol!

I was talking about the proper GTA games, the handheld ones don't count Tongue

Those two were essentially rehashed versions of III and Vice City though, weren't they?

So is there any news on if it is being released on PC? I've always enjoyed the GTA games and would hate to miss out on one just because I don't own a console.

Although developed and published by Rockstar and whatnot, that's not really a relevant factor; it's a different game, to be honest. No substantial GTA (so not talking about those mini-ish ones like Vice City Stories) has not had a PC version.
