You can remove it by removing the class "coverBorder" using the JavaScript console elements viewer in Chrome/Firefox
The element giving your cover photo that gradient effect is pictured here: (Click for larger image) It's a 1px*95px image repeated along the x-axis. Deleting that DIV element would remove the gradient. I know this doesn't solve your problem but just thought I'd prove that it is possible to remove it temporarily at least! |

only helps you though, why not give your cover photo a positive gradient and then it wont show up

It fades to black with 95% opacity so that wouldn't work. It would only work up to 50 something %
