Well, death isn't all that shocking, but the fact he got up that morning to live the day and never returned home, instead died in a situation which lasted for a few seconds, is the shocking bit. With that being said, it was only a matter of time someone was going to make a mistake so driving at that speed was always a recipe for disaster.

It's quite sad if you think this isn't the least bit shocking, even though driving is, I think, most dangerous form of transport.
