That's pretty interesting, I never knew. Afaik here you can lie as much a you want when selling stuff as a private person because lies technically aren't illegal.

Once you buy a car from a private person you would jokingly have the "rear light warranty" where after the seller can't see your rear lights anymore he doesn't have any responsibility over the car afterwards. (Note that this isn't a real legal principle.)

Only car dealerships have to be truthful about their articles because it's professional business. Although they can still often say that something just broke after you bought the car and it isn't their fault because it wasn't on the car when they sold it (perhaps carefully hidden and not mentioned.)
