RE: Insurance & Police System
The main problem really is keeping it simple and foolproof and making sure those who just want to drive can.
I've sectioned some ideas off here with bold text, just because there's sooooo many possibilities here - It looks abit overwhelming but they're all individual suggestions so feel free to quote and tweak. Note carefully that there are two sources of information the cop is using here, the driver's license, and the car's VIN Insurance Adjusting insurance cost by number of crashes is unreliable as it's not always there fault (as Ras said). Instead, changing Insurance Costs based on the amount(rate) of times the vehicle is stopped by Police for breaking the law is a more reliable system that would encourage the balancing out of suspects and civilians, meaning that not everyone is breaking the law at once (This cost factor is based on the license holders history and not the car's VIN) Then factor in, the cost of the car, UF1 = Cheap to Insure, wheras XFR = not. And perhaps also the condition? Some complex behind the scene equations that nobody needs to understand but Chuck The idea here is that you can't afford to be Toretto and break the laws all day in an XFR and still afford to drive Having to enter commands to check the drivers details all the time will be hassle, instead it should be an automatic process that checks the drivers license once pulled over - When the Driver is pulled over, the details are displayed above the fine menu Then we can do this - Bear with me here; Users Not Paying Insurance If the user does not pay insurance they gain the benefit of not paying insurance - But if they get caught breaking the law and they are pulled over, they will have +50 added to whatever fine they are going to receive. Once the user pays they are warned that if the next time they are pulled over, if they don't have insurance there car will be seized and put in the impound. Cars kept in the impound can be recovered optionally for a large fee (5,000 or so?) and if the user doesn't recover there car within an hour it gets crushed. If the user runs there car will get impounded if they are caught even if it is first offense (Gives them a good reason to pull over ) ANPR Or AVINR in [TC]'s case Will be a special tool for a few cops, it'll allow them to see details of cars they've not stopped. ANPR Units should not be all of the police cars - instead only a few, perhaps we could promote advanced training since we're lacking in trainee's by giving it to people who take and pass advanced? The flaw here ofcourse is that suddenly uninsured drivers can't escape by following the laws.. Stolen cars ANPR Systems IRL Automatically register if or not the car has been stolen So here's a further suggestion.. AVINR (ANPR) Units, don't see insurance details upon scanning - Instead, they can only see if the cars stolen or not.. Stolen??? Yep - Lets say users can steal back there own cars, what happens here is if the user leaves the pit in the car they've had impounded, it has a stolen status for.. 20 minutes?* *20 minutes so the user doesn't go afk in a corner, thanks to idle kick The benefit for the user is they don't have to pay for recovering there car, but the drawback is they risk being scanned by an AVINR and flagged as stolen, at which point there car will just get impounded again if they manage to catch the driver Maybe if a stolen car gets impounded they can't drive it for a day? =============================== Well these are all just ideas that are going through my mind when I think about it, i've logged them here, disagree, agree, change comment as you will |
