how did we/you even get from "remove tirestacks and railings" to "solid dividing the lanes"?!
it was about how tires and railings damage cars, not about a solid wall.
i have the feeling now everyone that is annoyed by tires n railings votes to have solid barrier all the way. thats just nonsense.

first step would be to remove (some of the) tire stacks/railings.

IF and only IF then suddenly people wrongway all over the place, what i seriously doubt cuz its working fine on highstreet, then and only then we/you could think about splitting lanes.
And that also first of all as suggested by red poles, as stated above, pschological effect n stuff
