The fine list states:

Quote:Driving in a careless manner without actively endangering other cars.

Examples:
Cutting corners;
Ignoring lines, cones, barriers or traffic lights;
Drifting, doughnutting, and all kind of stunts on the track;
Operating an unsafe vehicle;
Constantly driving backwards.

Here, you cut a corner, and arguably drifted as your car went slightly sideways while doing so. Either way, careless driving was the correct fine to give here as a result of cutting that corner.
