RE: Cops losing contact
I honestly expected more feedback, but then again GTA5 is out and hardly anyone is copping at all.
Anyway, the parameters need some tuning but apart from that, I think the new system offers an entire new way of escaping by using the brain instead of the gas pedal, which is a step forward IMO. Btw, what's at stake for the cops here anyway? They don't lose anything. Not a single dime. All the cop has to do to start another chase. It's the robber who pays for everything and not just the fine. Take an average fine like 600€, but that's just peanuts compared to what they lose during the chase. Speed around for 15 minutes and see how your money literally vaporises. Bearing that in mind, I figure having a system that is slightly balanced in favour for the suspects ain't bad at all. |

RE: Cops losing contact
Of course the system can favour the suspect, however it would be pointless if you lose a chase when the suspect is still in sight, that's unrealistic.
Maybe make the distance required for the suspect to escape higher, so that the suspect is really out of sight |

RE: Cops losing contact
well, its just obvious that alot of COPs do look after their stats. some more, some less. but still... nobody wants to loose against someone who is obviously far slower (be it the car, or the driver).
WE (and all the little objects/signs/fences/small roads) plus the new system almost dont allow the slightest mistake or interference by civilians. guess its just annoying that you really have to have eyecontact to the suspect all the time. you just need to be 100m behind, and after a blind turn u have to guess if the suspect went left of a fence, or right. and with the new system you cant catch up again even if its a uf1. you just loose contact too quick. plus the trolling over small jumps and endless offroad circles/hiding in the woods by some, and the good cruise opportunities made me completely loose interest in copping. hence my suggestion of adjusting the paramters below, and this statement is not from the cop-perspective, just what i witnessed. might next week bring some detailed examples. |

RE: Cops losing contact
But ye, srsly whats the point of chase now? If the suspect is in frot of you and you loose him? You cant even do proper strategy to catch him.
Example, Suspect was near car wash, and I stoped on the road to wait for him, and i lost him... |

RE: Cops losing contact
Nah you misunderstood that. Look at chucks pic on page one. Its 90(before 50) around the suspect or a 15sec trace en route. So the distance is dependant on how fast the suspect travels. At 100kph=27m/s for 15 sec would be around 400m

RE: Cops losing contact
Little misunderstanding there. That track the suspect draws (green shade in the image) is still 10 sec long, no matter how fast someone goes. Example, suspect goes at 160 kph = 44.44m/s. The track is about 444.4 metres long.
The timeout I changed is the time the cop has to regain contact. ie took a wrong turn. (showed as red positions in the image) Some image showing the most important factors: |

Yes, but for the same reason. @Chuck: Is it technically possible to get as robber a info on the screen like "You have outran [COP] xy? Back then with XP system we at least noticed that we outran someone, now we don't. |

Yes, in the chat without one little line without colors which I don't read in an intense chase. Back then with a +12 XP for example in the middle of the screen was definitely better. Probably something like this is possible now too. |

RE: Cops losing contact
That image above seems not plausible. You should have never lost contact in the first place imo.
As for the regaining contact. It does not matter whether you catch up to the suspect or his trail. If any condition is met, you're in a valid position. Some replay of the scene above would be nice. |

RE: Cops losing contact
There is no actual road system, so there is no distance to calculate.
Actually, there is only one thing I can think of that could add more fairness by adding the entire zone (the parking-lot) the suspect is in into the list of valid places. Means, any cop in the same zone as the suspect is, per se, "in contact". But that wouldn't have helped you here, unless you had taken the 1st possible entrance to the parking lot. Maybe a few more seconds aswell. But I can't think of anything else here that wouldn't automatically make it a lot unfairer for the suspect in many other situations. |
