LFS Development Discussion
Some interesting recent quotes
"Oh and dev team, what do you think about that closed South City part?" Scawen Wrote:It would be nice to update South City at some point. With my anaglyph glasses on I was looking around the other day, enjoying the sense of scale and, apart from that unfinished road you are talking about, there are various back streets that could be linked up to make a nice open config. I'm sure Eric would enjoy doing that at some point. I think what is more important now is to get a couple of new tracks out that you will need an S3 license to use, because you need more tracks and we could do with the cash!https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?...ost1862887 "Did you actually ask him? Have you been talking about it? Or is it just a guess?" Scawen Wrote:It's just a guess.https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?...ost1863014 "I'm playing lfs for 8 years and layouts are getting really boring due to small autocross place. I guess it's super easy to make autocross like 3 times bigger, just a big square with asphalt, that we can create much bigger and faster layouts! This will also attract new players!" Scawen Wrote:I know this is often requested and we have a really large autocross area in one of the new tracks that we plan to release with the S3 license. We think it's better to leave that for S3 licensed users. We do want to release some S3 licensed content as soon as possible, though this will take quite some time (several months - "several" not being an actual specified number) after the Westhill update.https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?...ost1863409 " "several" = 48 Months? Scawen What About License of Scirocco and Rockingham? There is actually some problem?" Scawen Wrote:No, it is the same story ever since we delayed the Scirocco. The problem is the tyre physics. It was impossible to make the Scirocco handle well with the current tyre physics, if we used realistic suspension settings. So I went on a long mission into tyre physics. That is the only reason we have not released the Scirocco yet, and that reason has not yet changed.https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?...ost1863422 The entire thread is worth checking out and following https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=86086 Imagine this happening in near future, if/when Eric updates South City: |

RE: LFS Developement Discussion
A lot of interesting comments there. I'd like to see more updated tracks just like south city shows. Also a new car or a couple new cars would be nice too. But it sounds like they have a lot of work to do with tire physics

RE: LFS Developement Discussion
I guess everyone playing this game has thousands of great ideas how to improve it. Not only that, many of them would support it by contributing work and/or money. Unfortunately, none of the developers is among them.

RE: LFS Developement Discussion
They will only do things that also benefit racers. All the open configs and stuff benefits everyone: Racers get numerous ways to make race tracks, drifters get numerous corners and layout possibilities and cruisers get various different routes to take.

RE: LFS Developement Discussion
Scawen Wrote:I would like that if we worked on a "fully open" configuration of South City. That is what he said. Scawen Wrote:They are just sitting there at the moment but obviously should be animated. If the code is implemented to make them work well, looking like lights that can be switched on or off (in a more general way than the existing start lights, which could also be improved in the process) then it seems quite a simple leap to implement some traffic light logic, for a crossroads etc. (if we were in the process of updating South City). He also said that so who knows maybe there is a chance!. |

"However, rFpro did not say whether it’ll be making its model available to gamers and motoring journalists keen to get any edge in the battle of the ultimate Nurburgring Nordchleife lap time. Motoring Research will thus continue investigating this until it does."
Makes me sad |

Scawen Wrote:Really good, I think. Definitely a much later release than we expected but some of the things on my list for the Westhill patch moved into the Rift support patch. For example the new alpha system which allows much better looking trees and other objects with transparency, you can try out right now in Test Patch 0.6F9:https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1871474#post1871474 Eric doesn't seem to be finished yet. |
