And the people stating that they "just would've smacked into him" have to be quite moronic believing they'd have any chance of doing so. I understand the logics behind it, but unless you have the reactions of a tiger on crystal meth, there's no way in hell you would have time to contemplate the situation before reacting. It would rather go somethikg like: "ERHMAGERD!!" *brake hard*. I've tried something similar - It really does hurt. Especially without a seatbelt.

Seriously? I hope that's a bit of an exaggeration... but maybe that's why the price of insurance is a lot less over here. The worst I can remember is someone turning from the wrong lane and having to brake... moderately. Generally people are quite well behaved on the roads over here. Actually - worst I've had is stopping at a stop sign, a guy drives up and starts yelling at me with some explicit language to go... it's because I actually stop (fully), and I had the right of way. Most people drive through that stop sign in the other direction going about 10-20kph. I guess that's quite tame compared to some driving videos I watch from the UK.

Depens where you drive, but if you drive in a large cities it will obviously happen more often than on the countryside.

Had a close call myself on saturday, was driving to my cricket club and there is a really nasty junction, it's the end of a one way street but it splits off into two lanes for left/across (basically a cross roads except one of them is one way) and the other is right. The right hand lane has about 15m before a blind corner, which people often fly round. I was pulling out right from the one way, nothing across from me (often a tricky one cause nobody is really sure who to let go when they're turning left from the opposite road so you can get awkward situations where you end up both stopping in the middle of the road to let each other out).

A car had just pulled out infront me of me, and I had a van block my view of what was coming to my left, so I inched forward a little to see what was coming having just seen that it was clear to my right, craned my neck around, nothing coming to the left, start pulling out a little more as I check back right and SUDDENLY, A PEUGEOT (one of the little like 106s or something, pretty old). He had come flying round the corner without seeing me inching out and ended up slamming on his brakes (driving lessons over here teach you to be careful when you see cars at junctions like that inching forward when their vision is impaired, he clearly forgot). He looked pissed and I hold my hands up and say i should have looked back again before pulling out, but he came round that corner way too quickly and didn't even consider that I might be checking what was coming. He was swearing at me and from what I lip read, threatening to strangle me as I drove off looking apologetic.



Basically, everyone on the road is a complete tosser.

It's like DayZ, don't trust anyone to do what they should because at the end of the day, most people have forgotten what they learned.
